The mascot for Hapoel Akko was developed through an exploration of the club’s identity as a team rooted in a historic Mediterranean port city. Seagulls are a defining part of Akko’s shoreline landscape, and choosing the seagull as the central figure allowed the emblem to reflect the city’s coastal character in an authentic and immediate way.
Drawing inspiration from English clubs that integrate birds into their visual language, I designed a seagull that connects football with the environment it represents. Holding a football in its claws, the figure symbolizes the natural link between Akko’s maritime setting and the competitive spirit of the sport.
The goal was to create a mark that feels wearable and meaningful, modern, clean, and unmistakably tied to the city. The compact structure and sharp visual style were chosen to ensure versatility across applications, from digital branding to merchandise and matchday graphics.
To extend the identity, additional elements from the city were incorporated into the kit concepts: Akko’s historic walls, a maritime anchor, and the city’s iconic ship, bringing together heritage, geography, and club culture in a unified design system.
Overall, the project aimed to express the connection between sea, community, and football, creating a symbol that reflects Akko’s resilience, pride, and local identity.
